Icom M802 SSB GPS antenna working - 2023

Today we did the final wiring to our Icom SSB GPS antenna to the BNC connection for the radio. It was a bit awkward because of the type of wiring, shield to shield etc and we decided to use solderless terminal ends instead of soldering the wires.

We then tested out the wires, and the radio now gets position data which is great in case of an emergency. The SSB would broadcast a distress worldwide with our position. We did have it wired up before, but it depended on the other electronics being on and working. When we installed our Vesper AIS that changed, and we wanted a stand-alone system as our AIS is stand-alone now not depending on other systems to work. Got all-around safety systems. Also, we put the antenna on a switch and added the VHF gps antenna and a nav light night light etc to the switch. Then come summer decommissioning we disconnect the radios and just flip the switch and we are done with that part.
