Our Frigoboat system went down. After much testing we found it to be the controller modular. Costal Climate Control helped us with the trouble shooting.
December 2021 - Currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
Test of control modular directly connected to the house batteries.
Debbie going in for more testing. At this point we still had the propane box in the lazerett.
Not quit the same speed controller/
Debbie in her second home deep in the lazerett...on the phone with her sister Melissa (phone booth!!) while waiting to do another test on the compressor! Now that we have the propane box out there is plenty of room. Still troubleshooting the fridge compressor.
"Control Modular" and bypassing the thermostat with jumpers.
New "Control Modular" and "Merlin II Automatic Smart Speed Controller".
Here we are bypassing the thermostat with jumpers.
We have had a working refer for about 4-5 days now. We replaced the "Control Unit" (brought them down from us on last trip) and then added a "Frigoboat Merlin Speed Controller". The Merlin Speed Controller ended up being defective and after about 10-12 hours the compressor would not shut off. So we have, of course, removed that. We are still in test mode and deciding on a speed controller. Some take away:
When support asked if the compressor was running we said "no". The compressor made a thump sound when it tried to start. Well actually that is considered running. If displays an error light blink of some kind then the compressor is actually probably good. If it makes the thump it is considered good and capable of running. So it is considered running. What was preventing the compressor from actually keeping the the refer cold was the "control modular". The brains that the thermostat talks to. Also they said we should always have a spare "control modular"
