Honda 9.9 outboard motor maintenance done for Summer\hydrofoil installed - 2020

Luis, our machinic, did a fine job on our Honda 9.9 hpoutboard. I do not do the Summer service myself any more and it is nice to have it off my plateđź‘Ź. Here he is draining the oil and he also did the gear oil. He also greased the swivel joint, checked the impeller and put in new spark plugs...to name a few items.
July 2020 - We are currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
Cleaned up nicely.
Rusted spot, lower left.
No rust now!
These rust areas got cleaned up and painted as shown below.
Rust spot gone!
The reason why there was rust in places is when the engine runs it sometimes kicks salt water out of the place where I screw in the adapter to fresh water flush the motor. What that means is after I fresh water flush the motor each year before storing it away, I remove the adapter flange that screws into the hole made for it. I do not remember there being a "plug" to replace the adaptor with. I thought it was a one way valve.

The fresh water attachment. One end screws into the motor and the other a garden hose screws in.
However, when Luis ran the motor in a barrel, or however he did it, he said he could see some salt water coming out of the flush hole. So he put in a stainless steel screw with Teflon tape on it. It is just temporary because the housing is aluminum and stainless is ds-similar metals so we need to find an aluminum plug for the long term. Anyway, the rust is gone and a solution found!
If there is a check valve then it is failing so a plug will work.
Luis also installed our new hydrofoil.
