Replaced Beta relay ground wire with a bigger wire and new location - 2020

This little sucker will stop this Beta 38 hp diesel motor in it's tracks if it breaks! It broke once at the Ixtapa fuel dock on way back to Zihuatanejo this year 2020. We found the wire was broken at the terminal end and fixed it and went on our way. Lucky it was not in or out of the Ixtapa marina channel! We had gone there to leave the boat for a few day inland trip to the guitar factories.
July 2020 - We are currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
PN 200-57640
We replaced it with a bigger and a bit longer wire (16 gauge). When we took off the wire to replace it there was only one strand of wire connected to the relay terminal end! It did still work though!
Debbie put on the solder-less terminal ends on then put liquid electrical tape inside the connector. Then added the heat shrink to make them strong. I would have soldered them but we did not have any ends just for soldering.
This bracket held on the relay but it was hard to get at. We removed the bracket and moved the relay so it is easier to reach. Also we moved where the wire connects to the engine block so it is easier to replace if we need to again at some point. At the Ixtapa fuel dock we were lucky the engine was not too hot.
Debbie and I both worked on this project.
As you can see it was not an easy reach and of course upside down.
We felt it in our chest and arms the next day😅
