Kiting at La Ventana Mexico - 2024

We have some Marina neighbors - Nicole and Marc on s/v Carefree - who are kiters, and they took us with them on Thursday to La Ventana as the conditions were supposed to be very good. And they were!

La Ventana is a large bay across from Jacques Cousteau Island (aka Ceravalo Island). People come from all over to have fun in the wind - sail boarding, inflatable paddle boards with wings, foiling, etc. The town itself is growing with a lot of construction happening all over. There are kiting "schools" popping up all over.
Before the kiting started, we went to the local market that happens every Thursday. Marc, Nicole and Chip tried the homemade empanadas, we bought some paprika, had a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich and Debbie even found a replacement coin purse she's been looking for.
We walked the beach after Nicole and Marc each had a kiting session. La Tuna is the on-the-beach restaurant. We shared guacamole and chips then Chip had a shrimp taco. Prices were on the high side yet expected as it's a tourist beach town.
When we walked back, Richard and Caroline were there, also from the marina. He's interested in doing some kiting so tried one of the training kites Marc and Nicole have. All in all it was a beautiful day and fun experience!
