Debbie and I were working on the Spectra Ventura Watermaker 200T Deluxe rebuild and while taking apart the "Clark" pump one of the stainless steel bolts broke off.
August 2021 - San Diego house sitting
The head came right off in a quarter turn! We were oh no, machine shop, Spectra to get our Spectra Ventura Watermaker 200T Deluxe fixed? But then we dug in and after a while of messing with the aluminum block we got the block out past the spacer by sliding it along the bolt with no head. We used kitchen knives to get the space needed. We started small and ended up using a big knife, tapping it with a hammer. We have no special tools, we used what we could find around the house, which is not much. Spectra sells special tools for this rebuild but they are expensive and a one time use. Besides they would not help in this case. A better work shop would be nice though yet as cruisers. we work with what we get. After we got some space we used a wooden block to pound out the aluminum further. Anyway that gave us enough room to turn the block. Then Debbie took the block and turned it and used the block to unscrew the bolt from the main body. We took another bolt and used it to knock out the broken bolt. Took a while but it saved us a lot of time and cash. So on it goes.
