New Icom M-802 hand mic - 2022

 

The mic on our Icom M-802 SSB/Ham radio has lost a lot of the insulation on the wires leading to it from the radio. It falls off and makes a mess on the nav station.

September 2022 - s/v Elegant'sea is currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)

 We decide to replace it least we have problems with it. Our Standard Horizon Matrix GX 2150+ vhf radio's mic has had no problems. So why the mic on the SSB? Both are mounted at the same place. Could it be a ferrite issue? We are adding a bunch of ferrites when we get back to the boat. Time will tell.

Update:

 Here is the old Icom M-802 SSB/Ham radio mic that we replaced.  Not sure why this detreated but Mabe the lack of enough ferrites on the radio? 

Lots of electrical tape and lots of bare spots.
