PSS Shaft Seal cut away at Marine Exchange - 2011

Someone mentioned a way to seal the PSS shaft seal rubber bellows if it were to wear out. By the way it is suggested to replace the bellows every six years of more often with wet cell batteries in the engine room.

Here is a cut away of the PSS shaft seal that is on display at Marine Exchange. If the rubber bellows were to crack or teal or wear out I do not see how water would come pouring into the boat.
It looks to like the black piece the bellows is attached to slides for adjustment and that the bellows simply covers some moving parts.
I sent an email to PSS support on the question that was asked in the FOGgers forum. We do have a PSS shaft seal and it works great.
This could be a Duramax Marine Shaft seal.

  1. This is not a PSS shaft seal. It is a Duramax Marine Shaft seal.

  2. Thanks for the info on the shaft seal. We will definitely look into this more and ask at Marine Exchange what kind it is, that is where I took the pictures. Now to find out which one we actually have on the boat :)
