Our PYI PSS Type A Shaft Seal has been on the boat since we bought her and for however long before that. Not knowing how long it has been on the boat before we bought her we decided it would be time to buy a PSS Maintenance Kit..
We are currently cruising our Islander Freeport 36 sailboat in Mexico. We have been extensively documenting our outfitting for this adventure. Also, what works and what is not of value.

Debbie rebedded the six chain plates this summer - 2019
This is summer so it is really humid and hot. Looks fine but it is HOT. Here Debbie is putting in new bedding in the chain plates. Some of the six were ok but a couple were leaking a bit and a couple were iffy. So Debbie did all six.
Refurbishment of outboard motor lock - 2019
This is the finished lock and the loose tape is 😌, well, loose and will get cut off.
The tape is to help keep the rain water out over the summer.
New throttle cable (Control Cable) installed - 2019
You can see here where the cable was being pinched. The housing is worn through
which made it touchy to get the rpm's from our Beta Marine 38 hp diesel engine.
We had "Luis", our mechanic, replace it. Nice to not do this ourselves
as we usually would have but were short on time.
Fabrication of the anchor locker chain roller to windlass is complete - 2019
This is the completed rebuild of the chain roller to Lewmar H3 Anchor Windlass.
A bright LED light for our nav station for a pump indicator - 2019
BRIGHTEST Light Bolt - Flush Mount 12V LED . Yes, we purchased one of these for our nav station. This will tell us if our VacuFlush toilet is cycling. Meaning, if it has lost its vacuum and is trying to create one. That means the pump keeps cycling on\off.
Another try at purchasing the right clock for paddle board wake up - 2019
Previously I had purchased a clock but it is too bright. It looked in the picture as though the light was blue but it turns out it is closer to white. Sooo - guess what, I am getting a different one. The one we have we will use for our house sitting gigs and the new one will be my paddleboarding, SSB early nets, etc. Purchased from Amazon.

Purchased some new deck shade - 2019
This will give us some new deck shade, primarily for the foredeck area. It should cover our stateroom hatch (for napping😉) and our head hatch. Also, we purchased a rectangular one for the salon hatches. Sails are made from high density polyester that blocks up to 95% of the sun's UV rays and repels up to 99% of rain water.
McNett Sea Drops Scuba and Snorkeling Mask Defog - 2-Pack purchased- 2019
The drops I have are almost gone. I use these for keeping my mask clear when I dive. Yes, spitting in it helps but these work really well for me. I like a clear mask while cleaning the bottom of the boat. Purchased from Amazon.
Hard drive cases purchased - 20109
Ordered another three of these cases for our portable hard drives. So, now we will have four. They protect our portable drives. We do move around a lot and also lend out a couple drives here and there so this will help protect them.
I can't believe he ate the whole thing! - 2019
Can it eat the whole thing! At the end of our dock one day Debbie spotted the bird and took this video.
August 2019 -We are
currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
Stern rail bracing gets some welds - 2019
The stern rail bracing we have put on the stern rail to help stabilize for the weight
of the solar panels got some welds...bottoms tend to hold water when it rains etc.
So we had those caps welded on to keep the water out. In other areas
we had them welded (the supports) for strength.
No leaks on 41 year old Elegant'sea! - 2019
Last night we had heavy rains with thunder and lightening. Lots of water coming down! Our boat had NO leaks! Our caulking project proved very worth while. Debbie also rebedded the chain plates. Not bad for a 41 year old boat😁
Debbie is making us a sunbrella caprail cover - 2019

during hurricane season here in the topics.
