Ajijic for the summer and Lake Chapala area - 2018

Yesterday we went to Lake Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico. We were out on errands so we drove the Jetta, windows down and sun roof open!

Hurricane Bud came by us and while it wasn't a threat, the winds and a good surge came. So on it goes with the preparation for the season.

Our first days in Ajijic, Mexico...by Lake Chapala - 2018

So here we are up in the Mountains of Mexico! Yes we are taking care of a house and the weather is just great. It was 82 yesterday and then it rained over night as it does most nights. Very comfortable for a summer stay.

Bees in the belfry (mast) or around the top - 2018

  Darn bees are flying around the top front of our mast on s\v Elegant'sea. We are also doing some top-of-the-mast work so it is a problem.

Some new buckets for HVAC flushing in Liters -2018

These two buckets we purchased at Home Depot. They are marked off in liters. 

We need 12 liters of water to mix the Muriatic Acid into. We can store the two buckets in with the 12000 btu HVAC unit as there is room. It is nice they are oblong.

New line that we picked up...like a candy store - 2018

This line we picked up at Cabo in Bucerias. 

New Outhaul line for inside the boom - 2018

Here is\was our outhaul line in the sheave which is on the die of boom. 

This line, as you see, is too big for the sheave. It is not easy to work the outhaul.

Bringing the Ocean kayak to new slip, from A dock to D dock for Hurricane season - 2018

Here I am leaving A dock with a couple of fenders 
and a seat I was not using...heading out between two sail boats. 

We moved slips and had left the Ocean Kayak Malibu Two at our old dock, A-dock. It was easier to just paddle it up the channel. I took the scenic tour..And now no leaks!

Flushing the Mermaid Marine HVAC(s) with acid - 2018

Flushing the HVAC with acid.

 Here in Paradise Village Marina this should be done 
twice a year because of the warm water, growth and estuary.

Both sails went to summer storage - Summer 2018

We hired Chava to wash, dry, fold and put away our sails. He removed the battens and also did our stack pack. Everything is nicely stowed away for the summer, high and dry.

Using Simple Green to wash the sails. We also gave him 
some mold killer to use on some spots.

Ready for next season!

We weren't on the boat when he the he main sail 
however it was done as well as the head sail!

Created more access space for the Mermaid 12000 electric box - 2018

We first drew the new wider and longer hole we wanted for the Mermaid Marine Air electrical box. Then out came the Jig saw and off we go!

Dome light ordered for over stove in our galley for night passages - 2018

This should be the last of the night sailing interior lights we need (or want). OK not quite, we need to upgrade the nav station red fluorescent light.

Leaking Ocean Kayak Malibu Two - Fixing leak(s) - 2108

This is testing the stern leak and we fixed it! 

This was the big leak inside the hole for the handle for the stern  

Shore power checking tool and more - 2018

  This should make it a lot easier to check for proper 30 amp shore power. Also it makes it easy to check amps at the compressor(s) etc.
