Downsizing - moving - something had to go wrong? - 2011

5\5\2011 - Marina Cortez , Harbor Island San Diego ,CA

We went rollerblading last night and stopped at a park bench for a break. We were discussing how wore out we were from moving (I know here we are roller blading) and were saying we were hoping that just nothing would break for a week or so till we got some rest. Murphy must of heard us dam him.

Debbie woke up at 3:00 AM to find out there was no fresh water. She looked around and found the leak was from the galley faucet plumbing (that I did). We turned off the fresh water pump and went back to bed, after all we need to go to work in a few hours.

When we got up we looked around and a fitting I had put on one of the two lines to the faucet came off. The water went down into the bilge.
The bilge alarm is not hooked up. The water was at the top of the bilge alarm.
The new flapper that we put on the bilge pump did not work. We tested it not long ago.
Really, no matter as the water was already in the boat as it was in the fresh water tanks so the boat was not going to sink but it is kind of a wakeup call, pun intended.
Also there was a leak in the bilge pump hose coming out of the bilge where it is connected to a bigger hose, just squirting some water back into the bilge.
There was also a leak at the through hole valve for the bilge pump. Not the through hole valve but a breather hose that is on a fitting there. A previous owner setup. It sent some water back into the bilge by various paths. Just more of a mess to deal with.
This stuff has been on our list of to-do-things just have not had the time!
An just think we had slated today (after work) as a refer work day\evening. Guess that will not happen.
This time we will install a valve in the water line so if it happens again we can shut the valve and keep using the water.
Also there is an issue with the electricity to the VacuFlush vacuum tank for the toilet. We have it turn on and off at the nave station with the water pressure. It is handy way of having it operate and we also have a switch in the head in case we want to shut the vacuum tank off separately.
This created a problem when the water line broke. We wanted to put some water into the toilet and then then flush it. But to turn on the vacuum tank we also had to turn on the water pressure which tried to pump water through the lines while one water line was still not connected. We will need to re-think this method of wiring it up.

I suppose we could have pulled the fuse from the water pump.
