Stopped at Downwind Marine and picked up a Windline Anchor bracket (recommended by Fortress) so we could mount the anchor on the stern rail. About the only option we can think of now with the Kato Marine Island Davits there.
We are hanging a Fortress #16 anchor from the stern rail.
The anchor hangs nice and is not in the way.
The anchor does not get in the way of the stern steps.
The anchor is easy to deploy from there.
The shank will not bang the stern and it will be even more secure with the chain attached.
The anchor will need to be removed when folding the davits in at a marina so we do not get charged for the overhang. Not a big deal as we would not use it at a marina anyway.
Also picked up 12’ of 5/16 HT chain. It is actually 13.5’ as it was a remnant.
I read on the fortressanchors.com/ site that they recommend 6’ of chain for ever 25’ of depth (at least for their anchors). So figuring 50’ is about average for our anchoring in Mexico we got the 12’ of chain or so.
Just a guess because I do not know what the depths are around the Sea of Cortez for anchoring. Hello Charles Charts??
We are leaving the old anchor mount there, not the anchor bracket though. The mount with the SS 1" pipe could be used for tying up a dingy or kayak if we added a cleat to it for the painter. We shall see??

Now we will make a rode to chain splice on the stern anchor rode.
I am not sure if this original rode will fit through the first link of chain.
We shall see once we get the strands taped. If not we might be able to use it up at the bow and buy new rode for the stern. It should fit through the 3/8 link of chain.
