Went to Marine Exchange and picked up a:
1 ½ inch through hull fitting
1 ½ inch valve
1 ½ inch hose barb
June 2011 - Currently At Marina Cortez Harbor Island, San Diego, CA
The 1 1/2 backing plate is in my Jeep as they only had one left the other day so I pounced on it Now we are ready for Dave our dock mate to dive on the boat as we install this below the water line.
This setup is for our new macerator, the Domestic VacuFlush one seen here
Note:
I had thought we posted how to install a through hull fitting into the boat below the water line but could not find it so here goes.
It goes like this and may not be exact but you get the idea.
Have a diver in the water with a plunger or other similar device.
Drill a pilot hole for the through hull fitting.
The diver then locates the hole and places the plunger over it.
You then drill the hole from inside the boat (to drill from outside under the water you would need an air drill).
Then the diver removes the plunger and places the through hull fitting into the hole removing the plunger (have 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 on the through hull fitting).
The diver could have a plug in the through hull fitting.
You then tighten down the through hull fitting and add the valve.
Done
