June 2011 - At Marina Cortez Harbor Island, San Diego, CA
We used the heat gun to remove some more varnish from the eye brows.
The teak eye brows are not for everyone we know but we really like them. Some people prefer to just have a stripe painted on and remove the eye brows. We like the teak eye brows and ours are in really nice shape.
So now there are choices for the teak eye brows.
Do we varnish them?
Do we use another product on them other than varnish?
Do we just leave them natural teak?
We think a nice varnish like “Captains Varnish ” will look real nice and then we will see if we want to keep them up or not. As for now we would like to start off with them and the rest of the teak looking nice.
No matter what we will do with them we need to get all the old peeling varnish off them and the cap rail. It is taking longer than we thought J what’s new hug!
Yea the hard part it turns out is the underside. Harder to get at and the heat builds up quick which can make it hard on the hands.
They are looking better already though.
Every time we wash or just hose off the boat pieces of peeling varnish get all over the decks so it is a pain.
