Got the stern anchor set up on the stern rail. It is the best solution we have found with the dingy davits now installed.
It sits nicely and can be deployed with the davits folded for when we are at a marina and not using a dingy like now.
Or if we have the davits out and we are using them we can still deploy the stern anchor. So now the stern anchor has new rode and is mounted and ready for use. There still is the stern windlass to re-wire and a line to the stern rode for emergency cutting in case we encounter a problem that need installing. There is a spot for the line so no big deal just a trip into the lazzerett some time with a small piece of line will do the job.
What are you using as the rode/chain roller, to guide out the rode? Is that custom made or a product that you picked up. We're thinking of setting up our Fortress at the stern as well, but need to still work out the logistics of how the rode travels out and in.
ReplyDeleteThe previous owner had done this. We have an anchor windless in the port stern lazerett. The fortress anchor wants a short amount of chain. The chain I pull in by hand as to not mess up the windles drum. It is not a problem. This setup does not work that well when using the davits. The PO did not have davits. I can give more info if you want and send some pictures. As for rode we use 6 plat line. We have also set up the smallest Fortress anchor so wee can re set or re position it with the kayak or dinghy easily. We have not tried it out yet.
