This sail was first a motor sail until the wind picked up. Then a quite nice
leisurely sail to Playa Los Animas in Banderas Bay Mexico.
January 2019 -We are
currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto
Vallarta)
Once here we looked around the anchorage and mooring field for a spot.
Our Garmin GPSMAP 740 chartplotter showed us heading onto land! Yikes😨
Our Navionics app for our Samsung tablet showed us on the water and looked right😎
These and other boats were on mooring balls and
anchoring only seemed possible in deep water
Then there is the usual wildlife and in this case we had a good whale show.
Playa Los Animas is a fun place and only reachable by water.
Pat Rains - Mexico Boating Guide ( 3rd edition) had a waypoint but it was 50' deep. No room for enough rode to feel safe as there were a bunch of boats around it on mooring balls.
This is the area where the waypoints from our dockmate Eric were, we think.
Only the area looked a bit dicey, with rocks we could see and those we couldn't!

As we were doing our donut around the mooring area a panga came by and showed us a mooring ball (it was more a ball of line). We threw him a line and he ran it through the loop on the ball. I was tying off the other end when I noticed a strand or two of the three strand was really frayed, almost through. So we pulled up another loop with the boat hook and tied our anchor harness (Mantus Chain hook and bridle system) through it. Ok good to go now😀 You can see the mooring line\ball hanging off our starboard bow, kind of.
And of course, we had lunch at one of the palapas on Playa Los Animas beach.
