Yes, here is the setup completed.
The Mermaid Marine Air 5200 btu starts up now like the 12000 btu unit in that the only noise you hear is the fan pushing out cold air or heat which ever is needed.
January 2019 -We are currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
Both Mermaid Marine Air units seem to run smother and quieter, and frankly quite nicely. We have yet to try eather on the Honda EU2000i but will soon try them out and post the results
Also it may be possible to run eather unit on our Xantrex 2000 inverter and or our with our Blue
Sky Energy inc Solar Boost 3024iL DUO solar controller charging the batteries! Our solar power can keep up with our 8 amp hour Spectra Ventura Watermaker 200T
Deluxe.so why not the HVAC with the EasyStart™ 364 installed?
So now to explain how we installed the EasyStart™ 364 on this unit Mermaid Marine Air 5200 btu unit😁
Our electrical boxes are about eight years old or more. They predate the Mermaid Marine Air electrical box with the glass fuse it. I do not think there is much difference between the two but there are differences.
I do think Micro-Air who makes the EasyStart™ 364 also now makes an electrical box for the Mermaid Marine Air products that has the EasyStart 364 built right in.
Micro-Air makes the electrical box and thermostat that Mermaid Marine Air uses on their units.
Also Micro-Air makes a touch screen thermostat.which supports WiFi etc.
I guess we are just old school but we do have a nice HVAC system(s) for our boat!
The electrical box is in our aft hanging locker in our stateroom along with the Mermaid Marine Air 5200 btu HVAC unit. Here we are disconnecting the wiring and harness to the HVAC unit so we can get the box out. Our Mermaid Marine Air 5200 btu HVAC unit cools and heats our stateroom and head if we so chose. Typically during the day we cool the whole boat so the head also. At night we just cool the stateroom and not the head. However enough cool air leaks out of the vents in the head to keep it comfortable so we just let that happen.
The electrical box is out, now to drill a hole in the box so we can get the EasyStart™ 364 wires through the case which we did and you can see the wire cam..
We used a hole saw and it was easy as the case seems to be aluminum.
Now the EasyStart 364 wires are through the case and we can still remove the cover if necessary. We used a wire cam that you see that we purchased at Home Depot.
The Mermaid Marine Air 5200 btu electrical box is a bit different than the Mermaid Marine Air 12000 btu box but not much. I think only the "Run Cap" is different.
The "Run Cap" is th black square in the middle on the Mermaid Marine Air 5200 btu HVAC unit. After finding the "Herm" and the "C" terminals which are not marked we were good to go with connecting and removing the wiring for the Run Cap.I think the "Herm" terminal had less connections but you would need to look at the documentation.
We are checking the wiring on the Mermaid Marine Air 12000 btu box wiring to help us install the Mermaid Marine Air 5200 btu box EasyStart 364 wiring.
Getting ready to start cutting EasyStart 364 wires and putting on the solderless terminal ends needed.
Here I am thinking "What did I get myself into!"
So now to dive right in😒 and cut and strip wires.
After checking my work with Debbie I changed one wire from what I thought was the "Herm" terminal but turned out to be the "C" terminal. to the real "Herm" terminal and we are done!
"Run Cap" wired and The two "Start Cap" wires are removed from the "Run Cap".
We connected the black EasyStart 364 wire to the L1 compressor screw.
I believe it said to splice the brown EasyStart 364 wire into the white wire we removed from the "Run Cap" but we put on a solderless terminal end in that we could just plug into the white wire. The Orange EasyStart™ 364 wire goes to the "C" "Run Cap" terminal where we removed a "Start Cap" wire.
And it all works right off the bat!!😎 When the unit start it is like the Mermaid Marine Air 12000 btu unit in that it starts really quiet. The only sound you really hear is the fan going pushing out air! This is in testing mode so we have not secured it all up yet.
Ok all done!
