Because we are trying to save some cash for other items like
a watermaker the Kato Marine Island Davits dingy davits cross brace is going to get re-visited. At first
we were just going to get the or I thought we were before asking Debbie what
she liked, the singe cross pole. It is shinny and nice looking. It is also expensive! This is the last part of the dingy davit project. We were waiting to decide on a dingy to find the best lifting point dimensions and realized that the dingy is longer than the lifting points our stern can support. We are looking at a 10' 2" dingy. Our davits are not that far apart so we will do the best we can on spreading them out to get crossest to that measurement.
This one is easy to remove with just two pins.
Being easy to take on and off for folding the davits is not so important to us as we will not be in and out of marinas regularly for slip length etc.
I asked Debbie what she liked and she liked the double cross poles as thy looked more sturdy. This surprised me! Well she is probably right on that. Debbie keeps me on my toes and reminds me communication is the key. We do have a short double cross pole for the davits already. They are just too short. We bought the davits off Crags list and and the original owner had a, I guess smaller dingy or stern or something because the cross poles are short.
Cross piece we already have.
Across the lazeretts
Brackets
We think the SS would buff out fine and with some new bolts for the brackets would work fine if lengthened. Soon we will bring the stern to the dock and takes some measurements for this project. The Debbie will go to Benchmark Custom Welding (2825 Dickens San Diego) for negotiations on a price.
If we can save some cash we will modify the one we have. The watermaker purchase would like it 😀
