Debbie and I started engineering the wind generator stern mount (WGSM) and I was having strength concerns. Mainly the bolt size for holding the WGSM to the stern. Hinze was aboard his boat reading so I walked over and asked him what he thought. He said the wind generator is not that heavy. I had thought it was like a car alternator which is heavy. Looking at the specs for the Air Breeze wind generator the weight is only 13 lbs. It is the force of the wind against the blades that is what needs bracing.
The bracket has the same angle as the outboard motor lift stern mount.
The section of the stern where the wind generator will go. Next to the temporary propane tank. It will just miss the anchor and will be an couple inches out from the bimini.
The same style mount as for the outboard motor lift will work fines. This one will need to linger, 8 ¼ inches to the center of the pole. We have brackets made and welded to the mount to hold the pole mount onto the bracket.
Here are the brackets that came with the pole mount kit.
These mounting brackets will instead be made into the SS bracket
This pole mount will attach directly to the SS stern bracket
This was a Hinze idea which was a great addition as it saves lots of width and adds strength to the mount rather than use the parts from the kit.
