This may be like anchors or engines and other religious type stuff and one size does not fit all. So what we did anyone else may find not to their taste money wise, fabric wise, or otherwise.
Attached is a pic of the settee fabric and a patch of the salon fabric against the headliner.
We are moving onto the boat in a couple weeks for the rest of our lives. My wife and I just talked about this and we were planning in case of my sudden death, bummer dude! I asked what her plans were. Debbie said she would just continue to live on the boat as it was paid for and fixed to her liking. So what we are saying is the boat is our new home forever hopefully. That means we are working and spending on the boat as if it were our land home that we would be remolding for our future retirement.
So here is the breakdown as best as I can put it for now.
Upholstery work performed by Knox upholstery San Diego– not a marine upholstery shop.
$1400.00 labor which includes the flat stitching of the salon (like it currently is from Islander).
Now this was less but we could not strike when the iron was hot, in February when they were desperate. It took a few months to find the right fabrics we liked. Who would know?? Kind of like naming the boat for some, easy but then try picking a name.
Any way we had to re-negotiate a bit and so it cost a few hundred more. They are somewhat busy now.
We like Dave and they were recommended by a good auto Upholstery shop who refused the work because the fabric was too light and they thought it would get ruined at the auto shop. The auto shop did nice work on a Trawlers Upholstery we know of.
Does not include labor for Ottoman.
$700.00 for the Faux Leather fabric for the salon. Half recycled leather and half vinyl. Feels like leather wears like vinyl.
Should not stick to it on a hot Mexican day!
Bought online (kovifabrics.com) and shipped to Knox. Quantity: 20.00 yards
$300 for foam. Three different firmness. Real soft for the back of the settee. Two different firmnesses for the bottom (your butt).
Bought from Keystone Bro where we have an account San Diego.
Not sure on the Sunbrella for the settee. It is a linen type of furniture Sunbrella.
It was I think $17.00 a yard. Could not find these anywhere else any less.
Plus pillows for the settee, not included in the labor charge.
The settee will be button less. More like a couch in your home. The cushions will have a slight crown on them and zippered. We will be able to remove them and wash them if need be. We decided the buttons catch on things and make the seats less comfortable.
They should be done at any time now. We have not really any idea how this will come out as there is not any picture on FOGgers or anywhere else of the settee this way. Includes the snaps on the backs.
