Phil said that having the water heater up higher than the engine was a bad idea. It did work with the Perkins for 32 years but he said it is just a matter of time before it develops an air lock and over heats the engine. Hmmmm… now what?
When the Perkins had just a thousand hours on it when we replaced it. So it did not have much running time to develop anything.
We will be putting on a lot of hours and do not need a potential problem. Now it may never happen but..
So now we are looking for a place to relocate the hot water heater at the same level as the engine.
Could be the space forward and starboard of the engine in the engine room. We would need to built a shelf to get enough flat area. We would need to relocate the dorad and intake water hose. That hose needs to be relocated anyway.
Could be up in the state room under the floor boards. We will need to wait till the deck is in to see if we have enough space to get it in there.
Could be under the deck in the galley next to our starting batter.
Could be we just leave it where it is and hope nothing goes bad.
Phil will come back for finishing touches after we get ten hours on the motor so we have time to decide what kind and where the water heater will go.
