Te-Ka wash, blue tape port caprail and Pettit Flagship varnish - 2019

Here we got the port caprail ready by soaking it with water.
June 2019 - We are currently in the marina at
You can see the Te-Ka has turned the teak black.
This is the part A application and happened almost instantly.
Debbie, when not taking pictures, had the water hose
going to wash off the Te-Ka Part A solution from the gelcoat
and stainless steel stanchions as if left on too long,
would etch into each surface.
That is an "A" for Te-Ka!

And then it was black. We lightly scrubbed the black caprail
with a green Scotch Brite scrub pad.

Then Debbie would wash off the Part A with the hose and we would apply the part B. Again lightly scrub the caprail and wash this off with the hose. We did about four feet at a time.

Another four feet.
Applying part A to the caprail.
All done. Now we let it dry all day and then we taped the caprail up.

Taped.
Next day we applied the first coat of Pettit Z-Spar Flagship 2015 Varnish.
A 50\50 mixture of varnish and thinner.

Actually we got the 50\50 coat and the 70\30 coat on the caprail that same day.
The next day we got a full coat on. Today we got full coat on. And on it goes.
A couple more coats and we will sand it with a block to level out the caprail.
Then a couple more coats should do it.

Varnishing "yoga"!

A cup from Grand Isla Navidad Resort in Bahia de Navidad gave its life for this project. These cups are new to the resort and are

Then later that same day we applied a coat of 70\50 varnish and thinner.
Our Gekko took leave of us here.
