Wood housing for the 5000 btu window A/C unit picked up, now modifications - 2019

This is our cardboard template made into wood. Pat did the basic wood working at his shop and we are going to fit it, mark it up and make more adjustments. We did a few adjustments already ourselves.
May 2019 - We are currently in the marina at Grand Isla Navidad Resort in (Bahia de Navidad) , Mexico
The A/C box sitting on the hatch.
The Mirage 5000 btu window A/C we purchased came with these parts
for the sides and top. Plus the air separator we designed for the inside.
Debbie suggested we use the black rubber pipe insulation for a seal around the hatch.
It worked out well...we will need some more.
You can see the pipe insulation here.
We unscrewed these small pieces of wood and cut them so the sides
of the A/C would fit. The wood was blocking the accordion sides from sealing.
We also had to remove some supports from the air separator
and cut them. Also, notched the separator and re-screw the wood back.
 Unscrewing parts.
 Doing the dock-box cutting😀
 Doing the dock cutting😀
We did collect all pieces we cut off - nothing in the drink!!

 Screwing back together.
Air separator is looking good. It will get a final mark up from below
when we place the A/C in the box.
We are figuring out the top.
Adjusting for the insulation. We will use a car windshield
sun protector for insulation and air flow.
 The air separated.
 Hot air side.
We still have to figure out some insulation system
for the sides where the light is coming in.

Measuring for a bigger hot air side opening.
Marking the 1 3\4 inch for the bigger cut out.
 The back top engineering
It is getting close to being sent back for the mods to be made!!
