While anchored we are preparing the cap rail, eyebrows and companionway for varnish - 2019

To get a start on the the deck teak varnishing we are starting to strip the old Sikkens Cetol from the cap rail, eyebrows and companion way. I do like the wood as it softens the boat from all the fiberglass and stainless steel. Makes it more "homey" (if that is the word).
It ia a labor of love😍
April 2019 - We are currently anchored in Bahia de Navidad Lagoon, Mexico
The port cap rail with some varnish removed. The white caulking in the seam
on the top of the caprail will be removed and replaced with new black caulking .
Our Honda EU2000i is supplying the 110 electricity to run the heat gun.
The underside the eyebrow was the hard part.

Under the eyebrow.

And there were a few obstacles😜
 A bit easier.
The  section under the dodger where, it was protected, the Cetol
was in much better shape.
The view from inside the boat, through the window!

These teak boards hold on the companionway hatch . I messed them up on my last attempt so we will redo them also. We have gotten these boards stripped (not shown stripped).
Upper eyebrow all stripped of Sikkens Cetol Cetol. We have decide to varnish instead of use Cetol. That way we only need to carry one product on the boat.
The varnish was goo-ey and hard to get off on this companionway area
This piece of outside teak holds the two companionway
boards that are under the two doors.
 Goo-ey stuff, man.
We decided to purchase a sander with a bag on it, soon!, to save my arm.
Goo-ey here also. This is old original varnish.
I will be doing the two doors, also, but later this summer.
