Anchor Snubber

OK I got a ¾ three strand line from a dock mate and tried it on the cleat and chocks. I could not find a 5/8 line. The ¾ line worked on the cleat but did not sit down into the chocks. I then pulled the eye splice through the chock into the boat and placed it over the cleat where it sat fine. The splice in the ¾ line prevents it from being pushed into the chock.

This photo shows the cleat but with 1/2 dock line not the 3/4 line I tested.

So it does work fine and that means a 5/8 line will of course work even better. That is what is recommended for our size boat. At least from this source.

Most people said oh ½ is fine. So that goes with "kept putting an anchor onto your boat till your dock mates start laughing and then you have the right size".

Now I know we could change out the cleats and chocks but maybe at a later date. They seem to work fine.

Now I would really like to get one of these

We used a dingy anchor as a kedge on our Catalina because it danced around a lot (the baot) at anchor and the kedge worked well to stop that. Also we made a anchor sail from an old jib (dumpster diving again) and it helped.
