We just left Maruata. We anchored behind the big rock or island. We could not get too far behind the island as there are hidden rocks. These anchorages are roadstead anchorages with little protection. We picked a weather window with 4 foot seas and little wind so we could anchor and get some sleep each night. Our Magma flopper stopper (Magma Rock N Roll Stabilizer) saves us.
March 2020 -
We are currently anchored in Las Hadas in Manzanillo Bay, Mexico
On the way down to Zihuatanejo from Manzanillo we did a double overnighter, (two day and two nights).. On our way back we stopped at these three anchorages thus no overnight passages.
The first time we were in Maruata in 2015, it was Semana Santa (Spring Break) so it was a different atmosphere. This time, thankfully, there were very few people on shore - walking the beach or playing in the water. We had a quiet night and got a good night's sleep for the passage to Cabeza Negra Norte.
There are huts on the hillside that look to be camp cabins.
We imagine this is the turtle research center and preserve.
Here are the beach campsites.
The entrance to the anchorage. We anchored just to the right of theis.
On top of this ridge on the rock is where the pelicans "hangout".
We were anchored here.
