Mermaid 12000 BTU HVAC epic journey to the US and back - Part 5 Testing\Running - 2017

Finally we get the Mermaid Marine Air 12000 btu HVC,which is in the plastic tub,out of the car and into a dock cart for the trip to s\v Elegant'sea in Marina Mazatlán.

In case you missed the other parts!
December 2017 -  Tied up in the El Cid Marina Mazatlán, Mexico
We have stuffed the plastic tub,not wantig to waste space.
The Mermaid Marine Air 12000 btu HVAC finally arrives back at s/v Elegant'sea!
Now we start the installation of the HVAC!
Look at all that empty space just wanting to be filled😐
We have the Mermaid Marine Air 12000 btu HVAC in place now and have decided to not use the ducking we had originally installed for it this time. We are just running a 6" ducking hose straight out. Before we had the 6" duck running to a split which sent one 6" to an 8" grill and then a 4" that split off to two 4" ducks. One in the salon by the mirror and one in the galley by the port counter top.
When we sent this unit to Mermaid Marine Air for repair there had already been
five HVAC professionals who had worked on it trying to find the leak.
A gringo in Mazatlán, Mexico, a gringo in Paradise Village Marina, and a gringo in Bucerias who was a real piece of work. Also two nationals. Not one came close to finding what turned out to be a simple-as-you-can-get leak!😖
Mermaid Marine Air called us a few days after sending them the HVAC unit in the US saying they had found the leak and it was real easy, and an easy fix. The unit was being shipped back as they spoke! We were sooo disappointed because we thought the leak was internal to some part or something. That upon sitting for a while it would leak out the coolant again and we would be back to square one with the factory being used up.  Mermaid Marine Air paid all the shipping and supplied the box. They also did the work free. One time only as it was out of warranty. We thought that if the leak was that easy it must of got damaged being shipped to them because of where it was and that the real leak went un-detected. As it turns out the  Mermaid Marine Air people were correct. At least so far so good.
The 8" duck that is sticking out for testing.
So after we fired it up (wrong word) after we started
the HVAC up it ran fine. It did put out some cold air.
The fan however would only stay on low speed. It is supposed to automatically speed up when the unit needs to cool a lot to bring down the temperature. Also we have the fan set to turn off when the compressor turns off when the desired temperature is reached. This way the unit completely shuts down until it senses a temperature rise. This was not happening as the fan kept running.
Come to find out we needed to re-program the digital thermostat. We like the LED readout dimmer also so along with the other settings we changed the brightness.
Next we blew a 30 amp fuse. And it really blew, frying the fuse holder.
We replaced the fuse holder and off we went again with testing the HVAC.
The temperature outside was in the mid 80 deg range.
We were cranking out at least a 40 deg lower temperature than outside!
Yay it is working great!
So far the Mermaid Marine Air 12000 btu HCAC has been working great. Now time will tell. If we had a leak it would have probably not cooled after sitting for a few months in the US but it got cold right off. We also tried out the heat one chilly 58 deg morning here and it works really nice. Makes the boat nice and comfy. So it looks like this is a big winner! Now we go to a marina and plug in we just flip the switch and we have AC or Heat!
