Weld shop for thimbles in La Paz 2024

      We had a fun time trying to find Sergio, the welder! There's no signage and the only directions we were given was that his place was on the street behind the Quaker State buildings and that we'd see his shop behind the fence. Well, there were a lot of homes with fences and none that looked like a machine shop! So we asked a resident who happened to be outside his home and sure enough, he knew Sergio so pointed out his place - two doors down.

   We gave our stainless steel  thimbles to Serigo for him to close the gap in them and then Weld it shut. The thimbles can swivel around inside the eye splice when there is a load on the line because the thimble calapses some. We have 3 Sampson 5/8 braided 25 foot lines and will have these thimbles put inside eye splices on one end of each line. Then we put short pieces of chain on the cleats on the dock and then through the thimbles on the lines. Protects against chafe for hurricane seaion.
