Barra to Cuastemate and anchorage - 2021

Cuastecomate is a small community tucked into a small, secluded bay located about a mile west of Melaque .It is about an hour from Barra by boat at 5 knots. It features a 300-yard long beach with gentle waves. There are a number of palapa restaurants along the beach. It's know as the "secret anchorage" in the cruising guides.

February 20021 anchored in Cuastecomate
We kayaked into shore on our Ocean Kayak Malibu Two kayak. We tried using just one paddle and the nicer bigger seats. This worked out fine as the sets gave us no problems getting in or out of the kayak as we need to exit quickly on the beach. The one paddle made it easier as I used it and Debbie did not have to concern herself with a paddle on the beach landing. For touring we will still use two paddles.
We also did a walk around town and had lunch and played some cards.
