We walked to Melaque from here (Cuastecomates),which was about 2 miles away.
March 2019 - We are currently anchored in Cuastecomates Mexico
It was up a hill and then down the hill. Then we took a cab back. On the way back, we stopped at a a restaurant here in Cuastecomates and got the WiFi code. That code works for us at anchor and that is what we are using right now, our WiFi extender. Cell coverage comes and goes quickly.
Before using our Ocean KayakMalibu Two to go to town (beach landing),
we both cleaned the bottom of s\v Elegant'sea or the two feet or so by the water line and then also the Frigoboat keel cooler. In another couple days I'll dive and clean the rest.
Once we were done we went ashore and took a walk to Melaque.
Hiking to Melaque!
The two-lane road up-hill to Melaque from Cuastecomates.
This is the intersection down to Melaque...where there is a cow pasture.
If we kept going straight, we would run in Barra de Navidad and beyond!
Of course, it was a goat crossing too!
I think they came from the cow pasture!
Onward to Melaque...
Crossing the bridge.
Translation: Welcome to Melaque!
Leave it to me to find a thrift store!
Nothing I could use, though 😏😏
The view from the coffee shop where we stopped at to cool off
and have an iced tea. The Melaque beach is at the end of the corner.
The town square with its sign.
Not much shade in this town square, though.
Back in Cuastecomate, this is where we stopped for a snack
and WiFi - Restaurant Cuastecomates.
Lots of music and beach-goers! Tour buses bring groups of people
down to the shore, although it didn't seem too crowded. Plenty of palapa
restaurants and sand to accommodate everyone!
Pangas pulling banana boats and other water toys come over from Barra
or Melaque to serve the people on-shore. They use the boats at anchor
as turning points to thrill the riders!
It's nice to hear the cheery voices of the people playing in the surf!
A perfect day at anchor in Cuastecomates!
