This Vesper Marine smartAIS XB 8000 unit will allow us
to broadcast our position as right now we can only receive
AIS information. It also has a nice anchor watch with external alarms.

Broadcasting our position is important to me as keeping the tablet and phone charged and babysitting the tablet or phone is a pain for the anchor watch.We do a lot of anchoring. Also it has an MOB alarm and we can put an AIS MOB on a life vest or harness. If one of us goes over, it sets off an alarm and the alarm can be in the stateroom where the person off watch might be. All important items for our style of cruising .
We purchased this from Downwind Marine.
The new AIS\VHF antenna will replace the existing VHF antenna
on top of the mast. It has been up there 8 or more years
so that is probably a good thing anyway. This splitter handles the antenna.
This GPS antenna, I think, we can leave in the starboard lazerett
under the deck and it should work fine. If not, we will mount it on top of the davits.
