We purchased our new Garmin GPSMAP 942 chart plotter from Shelter Island Marine Electronics. Our new chartplotter has a 2" bigger screen. Our old Garmin 740 chart plotter is going bad. It has now not only shrinking screen edges but some big black dots on the screen.

Here is one of the black dots that seems to be getting bigger on our old Garmin 740. So is it just the screen that is going bad....is there some other things also? No matter - the screen is not repairable.

The only thing that has changed is the power chord plug into the GPSMAP 942 chart plotter. So we need to splice all the wires into the old wire.
