Scrub-a-dub-dub with TSP and 220 wet sandpaper.
This area you see a lot of but not really😊 because it
usually is shadowed. This gets satin varnish.

The top of the teak steps we will continue to use Teak Wonder on because it keeps them from getting slippery, especially when and if they get wet, which they do at times..
Lots of TSP and scrubbing.
Ok all prepped and ready to get the Debbie-taping with blue tape.
The star marks the spot where it is all prepped for varnishing.
Now to move down a step and prep the area around that step.
This is a lot more of a mess.

Here the step back is varnished in satian.
Looking good😎
The step back gets hit by shoes, sandals etc
and gets dirty. Now it will be easy to wipe off.
Ok moving on to the lower step area.
Ok all prepped and we are now waiting a day or so for it to dry out.
You can see the dark area at the bottom by the deck, it is still wet.

There was a lot of epoxy on the teak by the deck. It took quite a while to get it off - laying on my stomach. I used a straight edge exacto knife we picked up at the dollar store in Lake Chapala, Mexico while house sitting. What a deal!
Now they do not call it a dollar store here but the same idea.

Looking better...clean. Showing a red courtesy light here also.
These to teak brackets will be done in gloss varnish, keeping with our theme.
Got the first coat of saian varnish on, not even dry yet😀
Z Spar Flagship Varnish
Z Spar Captain's Satin Varnish V-975
First coat of gloss on.
Second coat of gloss on.
The step braces have two coats of satin and two coats of gloss.
All done!
What the heck, what's the big deal about this, right?
It is just that these really needed doing and they were (or the bottom one)
was really time consuming with the prep and all. Otherwise what's the big deal😁
