Now at the mast we keep our old 6.1 Harken blocks. We used two sets for lifting the dinghy on the Kato Marine Island Davits. We still use one set for the dinghy bow but the dinghy stern is lifted by a winch. So we have the spare set of 6.1 Harken blocks that we connect to the whisker pole halyard and we have an easy pull for the anything we want to lift with that halyard or the main sail halyard for that matter..
We have the Honda EU 2000i generator stored at the mast while cruising. We get to an anchorage that we are staying at for a bit and decide we want to use the generator. The idea is not to have to carry the generator around from the mast to the bow on a rolling, bouncy deck. Instead we lift it with the halyard and guide the generator to the spot where it will sit at the bow and then lower it.๐ Easy peasy, we hope๐ This leaves us one hand to hold onto the life line or hand holds, whatever.
The generator may need a tag line as it will want to pull you back to the mast where the halyard is coming from.
December 2018 -We are currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
Debbie working on the strapping.
This 20 Pack 1 Inch Side Release Plastic Buckles (Black) we purchased from Amazon.com and they turned out to be junk. They do not hold together. They could be used on say a backpack or belt but not to hold down a surf board or kayak.
This one is junk.
The faded out old ones are good. The new ones are junk.
So of course we went with the old ones. They need to be adjustable so the generator will not be all tilted when it is lifted. Once adjusted then the harness will work every time fine.
