We added a Sea-Lect Y-Valve from Downwind Marine to the wash down anchor system.
May 2010 - At Marina Cortez Harbor Island, San Diego, CAThe valve we got from Downwind Marine and it has ½ thread . This make it perfect for the existing plumbing fresh water plumbing.
We put it in the aft starboard lower part of the anchor locker so it is easier to plumb and away from the feet. This will enable us to select salt or fresh water for the wash down.
It is only in temporarily as I still need to hook up the plumbing.
Also we need to add the JABSCO Stainless Steel Wash down Quick Connect.
It does make a water entry point into the chain locker. The hole for the handle is 7/8” I think and the handle fills most of it. It is higher than the windlass anchor chain hole and being in the back of the anchor locker it is higher than the front. We could always stick a rag in it if it becomes an issue in heavy seas same as the windlass chain hole.
You ask why?
It is so after say washing the deck you can rinse off the port holes and stanchion etc with fresh water.
We will have two wash downs. One in the anchor locker and one by the stern. With these tow and a 10’ hose you can reach all of a 36’ boat.
