Harken Traveler - New traveler track
2010 - Marina Cortez San Diego, CA
Debbie and I took Wednesday off from work and took care of some boat business.
First off Debbie got the new traveler track from Sailing Supply. She has been working with Dave there on this project and he has been quite helpful. We then went to a couple other chandler’s to pick up other parts. While at Downwind Marine (had donuts- they were good) I ordered a selector valve. The kind you can put into the wall. The valve sticks out but the rest is behind the wall (bulkhead). Also got some epoxy for filling and drilling.
Then off to Marine Exchange for some more plumbing parts. We went to the boat and Debbie worked on the traveler. The traveler track we decided to have pre-bent. We have enough hard things to do so this we decide to try to make easier by having it pre-bent. It needs about a one inch bend. We also need to fill almost all the old holes and drill new ones. The old fill and drill. Plus we need to drill a hole in the track and tap it for the ends to screw into. The new traveler track does look nice and is about half as high. The new track is 48” and I think the old one is 47”. Still fits on the fiberglass nicely.
Debbie was measuring for screw length.
