A blister on the side of our keel\bottom.
We have an encapsulated keel (it is part of the boat) and this is a bit deep for a blister.
It is time for a major bottom job but we may need to put it off?.

July 2020 - We are
currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas
Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
I put this one out to the Sailnet community and I expect some abuse😅 but will probably get some good advice?
This blister is on the upper skeg. It is not too deep but is a bit concerning. Again we wanted to do a major bottom job. Meaning we wanted to strip the bottom, barrier coat it and of course, fix all the blisters etc..However this pandemic has made it a bit difficult may need to move it back a year? We are now thinking it must be done soon - pandemic or not.
We sent all of this information to our "advisor" - Jorge Servin of SYS Yacht Services here at Paradise Village Marina. We will be anxious to hear what he thinks about these. We have decided to haul out and do a major bottom job. We thought about possibly covering the blister with 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 or pens sellador Marino?
When we bought the boat it was advised to do a complete strip of the bottom and etc which we never did. It was especially expensive in the US. It has been now 12 years and we have done just one bottom job.
So haul out and we will replace a through hull with a larger one.
Rebuild the PSS shaft seal as it is past time.
Check the cutlass barring.
Strip the bottom and repair all the blisters, barrier coat etc.
Whatever else comes up.
Hi Chip, this is John on Apogee, I'm hauled out in San Carlos. I had the bottom stripped and it's drying out now. The last picture in my instagram https://www.instagram.com/johnkacinski14/ shows the damage. I think I'll do the west systems repair.
