We had the two nuts and cotter pin removed from the propeller shaft and put the bracket and cone zinc on instead. The bronze 1\4" washer (1 1\4 shaft hole) stayed on. Back to the way it came out of the factory. While anchored in Tenacatita, I cleaned the bottom and found that we lost the cone zinc and bracket that holds it and the washers.
June 2020 - We are
currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
The cotter pin we ended up using with the "D" zinc to hold on the "D" zinc bracket was 5/32 x 1-1/2 inch.
This is what we put on (restored).
This is what we put on (restored).
The cotter pin we used to hold on the stainless steel nuts and bronze washer was much larger at 2 3/4 inches or more.
Nuts we removed.
We do not want to have the engine get corroded from improper zinc configuration. It could go right in the shaft and into the transmission and engine? Why should we take a chance? Anyway, we had a local diver that cleans our boat bottom while here in the marina do it. It is very affordable here and saved me from having to do it again😁
