Zihuatanejo- Flat in a DaNard Dinghy Wheel - 2020

We got a flat in one of our DaNard Dinghy Wheels.😛 So we took out the tube and replaced it with a spare tube we had. Debbie held one screw driver with the tire out and against the rim. I used our glass hammer and another screw driver to pry the tire off the rim going around it with the screwdriverr.

January 2020 - We are currently anchored in Zihuatanejo Mexico
We applied lots of dish soap to make the rim and tire slippery.
Once the tube was out we cleaned up the inside of the rim and tire.
We have been using the wheels for dinghy landing
with the flat tire so the tire was getting full of salt water and sand.
The rim where the stem goes was a bit chewed up so we filed it smooth. Here it is chewed up. It could have gotten that way from using the wheels with a flat tire.
The tire had some extra rubber around the bead
so I trimmed it off with a box knife.

We put baby powder all over the new tube
so it could spread out easy and slide into the tire nice.
 Putting in the tube.
The tire went back on fairly easy. Needed the screw driver
for some of it. We never took the rim off the axle.
Pumped it up using our little bicycle pump to hand hard (no gauge).
And wala! Nice tire to use again.
We did notice the tire is split in several places. The rubber is not holding up. They are about 8 years old now. So next season it looks like new tires for the DaNard Dinghy Wheels on the Achilles LSI-310E dinghy
