This is the completed rebuild of the chain roller to Lewmar H3 Anchor Windlass.
August 2019 -We are
currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta) (Currently house sitting in Chatsworth,
CA)
The two "U's" are shackles I had welded onto the mount. They will hold parts
to the chain stopper. The shackles already have holes in them for tying on the tethers
to the chain stopper. The shackles already have holes in them for tying on the tethers
to the chain stopper parts. There are\will be 5 bolts holding it onto the boat.
This is the mounting piece. I had to mark the holes for the brackets to hold the wheel.
Here we have it but need to make some modifications
so we dropped it back at "Mike's" machine shop in Puerto Vallarta.
Very Nice. I am thinking of using something like this as a houser for our windlass. Our windlass is aft of the chain locker and does not place the chain in the center of the locker. So We have to get a stick and spread the chain out. You do great work
ReplyDeleteThanks much. It works great. We really need it when we let out 90' or so of chain to get the twists out with it not hitting the bottom. All that weight wants to pull the chain right over the windless.
DeleteAlso enjoy your blog post. Any thoughts on how to start one?
ReplyDeleteSure. Pick a spot like this one or a place that hosts sailing blogs. Then pick a subject. Ours is more like a log of what we have done on our boat. That serves as a record for us of when, where etc we purchased whatever. Then go for it.
