s\v Elegant'sea at anchor in Chamela Bay, Mexico
March 2019 - We are currently anchored in Chamela Bay, Mexico
The flopper stopper is raised when we leave the boat s\v Elegant'sea
so it doesn't get so much growth like the bottom of the boat.
We are on our way to the new channel in our Ocean Kayak Malibu Two.
/
Debbie and I waiting for the wave set to pass
before paddling into the channel.
This is the entrance to the channel. The little monument on top of the rock is the left (port) side and the rocks with the green growth are the right (starboard) side of the jetty.
We took this picture from the beach.
Approaching the channel in our kayak. This channel previously was just an open mouthed type river. There were no jetty to block the waves or sand\rocks from blocking it. It was blocked by rocks and the pangas would need to be dragged over the rocks before they could continue up the chanel. Forget about a dinghy😁
The first 50 feet we had to paddle like mad
to overcome the "out" current as the tide was going out.
Our kayak on Carlos' panga...he and Oso
were supposed to watch it for us.
When we got back, no one was in sight...glad the kayak
was still there! We were worried 😕
Back the way we paddled but on foot.
From the beach. We walked to town along the beach.
We walked into Punta Perula which has changed some but not much
since we were here back in 2016. The sign is new and the square
has been done over. A few stores have come and gone and a few new buildings.
Still no traffic lights!
The beach.

Sitting for lunch on the beach.
Looking out at Chamela Bay and s\v Elegant'sea and
s\v Dolce with Tony and Diane on board.
We heard from s/v Pincoya, who we spoke with over the VHF radio while we were both on the water (us going south, he coming north), about the pig roast Monica's Restaurant (a palapa restaurant on the beach) has every Thursday night. All-you-can-eat for about 180 pesos ($9 USD). So the leftovers are made into either a sandwich or tacos - I chose the sandwich. It was yummy!

We took this while alongside in our kayak.
Other friends of Diane's and Tony's off another anchored
boat - their names escape me.

This is Ann from s/v Dreamcatcher - who we know from Paradise Village Marina.
We were docked next to her last summer. She is staying on land in Perula with her husband for a month. She swam out from the beach!
Because of the weather we decided to leave after two days here. The winds will be coming from the South and Chamela Bay does not handle wind or waves from the South well. The boats that are here will likely head North because of the South wind. So s\v Dolce with Tony and Diane and our selves headed South.
Some of the other boats at anchor with us. We knew this boat and person from Mazatlán, Marina Mazatlán.
