San Blas Marina aka Fonatur Marina,San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - 2018

s\v Elegant'sea is outfitted with
our Breeze Boosters and the no-see-um screens.

January 2018  -  Tied up in the  Fonatur Marina San Blas, Mexico
February 2018 - Currently in La Cruz Marina, Banderas Bay Mexico (Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz)

 Gnats.

The gnats seemed like they were always around. The no-see-ums and mosquitoes were not too bad for us this time. We stayed in the boat at sunrise and sundown. At this time of the year sundown was between 4-6. After that it was a good time to go to town. Actually about 8 pm was the time town got going.
This is our companionway screen that Debbie made for us. It has a zipper that runs down the middle for easy access. It helps a lot for Mosquitos and gnats. It seemed to do well with the no-see-ums however it is not that small a mesh to prevent the no-see-ums from getting in.
We also have SS screens on our Newfound Metals port holes but we kept the port holes closed because the no-see-ums could get through those screens.

We did walk to Pemex to fill our gas can one evening at sundown and got eaten up a bit.
The first place they put us was on the end tie. However there is no power or water hook up. John on s\v Little Gray offered to share his but we wanted our own for the HVAC. So we moved to a slip in the mud about 6 feet deep.
 Fire in the box.
The power was sketchy and the water had low pressure but worked. We went to town that night and while we were eating, we heard sirens. Come to find out it was the marina. A big electrical box blew and so that of course meant no power at the dock or water while we were there.
We hear the power is sketchy even when it is working. Also there is no hot water in the showers, ever.
Fonatur Marina San Blas seems like it has become a good spot to do work on your boat. Not a lot of services around but the boat yard in inexpensive.
We stayed in San Blas 3-4 days and did the things (river tour, fort/church walk-about) we did not do when we anchored in Mantanchen Bay back in December 2012.
This is the river/lagoon off the slip where our boat was docked.
At low tide, these sandbars made it easy for people to walk out and fish.
There is a plastic gas can painted green to represent a channel marker.
Unfortunately, it has drifted and at low tide, is sitting ON the sandbar!
The boatyard does have a travel lift for hauling boats out of the water
and into the yard...the tide does have to be right, though!
Looking to the end of the slips.
Looking out to the end tie.

This boat is headed to San Diego as they just got a mooring in Americas Cup Harbor after a 12 year wait...not all spent here in this marina 😄
s\v Litle Gray which is headed up the Sea of Cortez to Guaymas and is going up for sale.
Below are some of the boats in the yard.

s\v Airborne who we met in Santiago, Mexico while at anchor there several years ago. We also sailed North with them when they were headed here with engine problems and we were headed to Mazatlan. Still here obviously, A couple years later.
