Mounted SSB and VHF radios - 2012

May 2012 - Marina Kona Kai Shelter Island San Diego, CA
We finished off the wiring in-behind where the radios are going and the Xantrex Link 2000 wiring is.
The ICOM 802 SSB speaker wire we did not cut and put to a terminal block. Maybe later after the SSB is all working if need be.
We then installed the side piece of wood and then installed the two radios in the front piece of wood.
Installing ICOM 802 SSB flush mount brackets. Then will do Standard Horizon Matrix GX 2150 VHF radio brackets.

The SSB is only a remote control for the radio. We think under the nav station behind the cabinet doors would be a good spot for it and the Pactor modem.
Then we installed the front piece of wood. The Standard Horizon Matrix GX 2150 VHF radio seems a little crooked but this is after work and after the sail make came and went so we were tired.
We worked on the microphone placement but did not like the SSB bracket so we will wait to get one we like. We want to keep the shelf clear for a laptop or just to have it clear for any item.
We put the speaker out of the way and mostly out of sight. Again we are trying to keep the area clean, not cluttered.
                                                                        Lights on!
Debbie installed the last coaxial cable end and we hooked up the mast head antenna for the radio.
We tried testing it but unit was late so we gave it up.
We will straighten out the VHF and check the AIS setup etc soon.
