Because we want to get the antenna on top of the mast while the mast is on the ground we decide to purchase the antenna.
We stopped at West Marine and picked up a :Shakespeare Style 4200 Squatty Body antenna for on top of the mast.

Then we decided that that may not be what we want so we wanted to do some research.
What we came up with is that the Shakespeare and Digital were the two top sellers of marine antennas.
I had thought that Digital was a signal and it confused me.
Turns out the:
Shakespeare Style 4200 Squatty Body antenna for on top of the mast.
is the same as:Shakespeare Style 5215S Body antenna for on top of the mast. The 4200 is just made for WM by Shakespeare.

The AIS is also what concerned me and that is on the radio
from Standard Horizon we are going to purchase.
We called:

We talked to Devin and found out that any VHF antenna would
work fine with their radio. That is was designed to plug into and existing VHF antenna.
Also that the AIS signal is on the marine band so the marine
VHF antenna works fine.
