Starboard paddleboard (kayak) racks

Beginning of August- Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Here is the Starboard paddle board on the kayak racks. We have the kayak cover on it now. Debbie is going to make a cover for the paddleboard but we are looking for fabric first. We enough Sumbrella (white) but it is heavy and so we would like some water proof nylon or similar.

Clothes wringer

Beginning of August- Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Our clothes wringer is working out good. Most of at least my stuff is micro-fiber so wring it out and it dries fast. Cotton stuff not so much. We put a rubber sheeting under it the blue stuff so the deck does not get wet. This will get improved on.

IMSS - Lab work and more, busses, food, shopping etc. - 2013

Beginning of August- 2013 Currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico
Last Thursday we got up at 6:00AM and took the bus(s) two of them to the IMSS clinic in PV.
We then had our lab work done. There was a long line, at least a hundred people but it went real fast. We were out of there in less than an hour.
Then Friday we took the two bus ride same time and got our chest x ray taken. They just handed it to us :)

Large on the left is 2".

It seems it is not much more to just order them from the chandlery here in the Paradise Village Marina than to order them on-line and pick them up in the US and then bring them back. So we will just order some back ups soon. Could this be a start of a trend? Mexico verses US for parts! Hmm not likely but possible.

Nav station wiring harness clean up - 2013

Coming from under the settee where the AGM MASTERVOLT house batteries are at. Needing some more wire ties to bundle it nice.

Starboard Whopper Fun padleboard is fun! - 2013

OK finally went out on the paddleboard and did not have a leak or near sink! Had some fun paddling over to the Nuevo Vallarta Marina. Since then I have been up the creak :)  And around the bay some. Still lots of places to explore and fun to have.
 Note:
This ISUP was recalled and was junk.

August weather here in Puerto Vallarta and Paradise Village Marina Mexico - 2013

Beginning of August- Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

The weather here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico in August is supposed to average:

About 72% humidity and 38 inches of rain with average temp at 91 deg..

So far this summer we have not really been uncomfortable.

There is another boat here now that came down from the sea. They were in Puerto Escondido where they said it was 100 deg at 7:00 AM and never a breeze all day. There was nothing to do so very boring.

Transducer Airmar P 79 working??

Last day of July - Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

We got the transducer the Airmar P 79 connected to the Garmin network and the chart plotter senses the depth because we see a depth box on the screen we did not see before. There is nothing in it though.

The Garmin repeater at the nave station sees it also. We created a page for the repeater and it would disly the depth if the thing was working.

To be fair the Airmar doc’s say to be in at least 100 feet to test it after installing. We are probably sitting in 10-15 feet of muck.

We consider this project complete and hope that once we leave the dock for a sail we will get some feet!

Also our friends John and Kelly on their 47’ Hans Christian re-installed theirs and have the same problem with reading out.

More than normal wear on Salon and settee got washed

Last day of July - Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Washed covers on the settee

Debbie took the sattee cushions up to the mall and the Landry mat. It is air conditioned which makes it a little more OK and free WiFi. I did one before in a bucket but gave up. It is hard getting them off and then back on. Maybe not hard but certainly a pain. After they were dry Debbie put some zipper lube on them.
Getting zipper lubed.

Done!

The foe leather is not fairing so well. We are highly bummed about it and will be contacting Kestone Brothers and hope for some solution L

We are playing with the housing and transducer(Airmar P79 010-11394-00) to get them level. You can see the yellow level on top of the transducer.

Anchor Chain Check

Beginning of June at Paradise Village Marine in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

When we got back from cruising the middle of April we checked the anchor chain to see if it was worth adding 100' of 5/8 three strand rode to it. That way we could have 300' of rode so maybe 125 0r 150' of rode to it. That way in case of storms or stern anchoring life would be easier and better. Also if we wanted to get the chain galvanized it would need to be in decent shape. It seems to be in good shape by the measurements. It is hard to tell by just looking at it.

Detailing top sides

End of July - Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

We are on the gel coat now.
Then it will be the stainless steel.
We see a lot of MV waxing their glass windows...what's with that?
Does it keep them from spotting or easier to clean etc?

We found an abandoned dinghy rack which we converted to hold our deflated dinghy on deck.

We are detailing the top sides of our Islander Freeport 36' sail boat.
We have now had the boat for almost 5 years and have barley washed the outside.
The previous owner for 30 + years did not clean it much either. With all the projects large and small we have never had much time to keep the topsides clean. Now however it is time. The are here in PV Mexico is clean and the air is clean. The whole Mexican Riviera is clean except when they are burning bushes then with the right wind we get some as at times at anchor. We can live with that. In the US we got every day jet fuel and who knows what else all over the boat. We were in a city so you kind of expect it.

Any way we have cleaned off all extra sealant and varnish\Cetal etc and bleached and then waxed with Whit Shark polish. The bas coat then the gloss. The boat is coming out nice.

We decided to leave the hem seat and some other items till next season or so before re-finishing them.
