Ok we may have found out why the Beta engine zinc leaks. It
is because at one time or another I did buy other zincs, from Jorge (SYS) in Paradise Village Marina and in the
US. These seem not to have the BSP thread but the NPT thread.
NPT
(National Pipe Thread Taper (NPT) is a U.S. standard for tapered threads used on threaded pipes and fittings. In contrast to straight threads that are found on a bolt, a taper thread will pull tight and therefore make a fluid-tight seal.)
BSP
(British Standard Pipe (BSP) is a family of technical standards for screw threads that has been adopted internationally for interconnecting and sealing pipes and fittings by mating an external (male) thread with an internal (female) thread.)
While we are having the heat exchanger re-worked we will try to fix the zinc leaking problem.
So we are having the zinc re-threaded and why not go with something we can get locally, and that is the NPT.NPT

“The plug thread size is 1/4" BSP.. So NPT thread zincs will not thread in properly. length of the zinc pencil is 3/4" or 20 mm. “
Are the threads NPT or BSP? All our zincs are in a baggie
so who knows. We will need to figure out how to sort them
for thread type or buy new nuts.
