The Mermaid 5200 BTU AC\Heat thermostat got installed in the stateroom

We first looked at the 10/2 wire I nicked cutting the hole but it was not even cut through the outer shielding so we just put a piece of electrical tape on it and stuffed it back in.

Then we snaked the thermostat RJ-45 cable to the stateroom aft hanging locker. That decide if the cable would be long enough and it was. That saved us a special order of one.

At first we tried staking down the cable but it pushed back at the thermostat and would not allow it to sit flat. We tried different methods but ended up removing the wire ties completely.

Now we spray foamed (Debbie got the spay foam from Home Depot) in the doard hose so it would not move and mess with the back of the thermostat.

It was time to simply remove the paper from the double sided tape and placed the thermostat in the hole.

All done!

Our DC LED stateroom lamp came in

Now to install it in the stateroom and remove the AC lamp.

And no the plastic on the bottom does not light up :).

Headboard cushion cut

In-case you wanted to know what a headboard cushion on a 1978-79 Islander Freeport looks like inside then here it is.

We cut some off the end so the cabinet door would open wide.

Back side.

Front.

Yikes!

Overhead Light test with the LED strip lights - 2012

Debbie holding LED light up against the headliner on right.

Re-test with one LED strip in salon light fixture

The one LED strip looks to me (in the day light and not on the boat) more like the brightness of the florescent light coming from the fixture. Lets see how one strip does on the boat.

Wired correctly this time :)

We tried the test yesterday but I wired up the light wrong and did not want to waste any time on it.
Today I fixed the wiring and tested it out, that’s what these pictures are. Now we will test it on the boat and we know it works before hand J

Using one LED strip would of course save us $$!

Still they need to be the right brightness.

We could even have a couple lights with one LED strip and a couple with two LED strips :).

Air Breeze noise test again :)

This is a little noise test of the Air Breeze. It seems to me so far the noise of the blades is not much of an issue. The vibration adds to the overall noise and it is dampened with the rubber mounts that came with the mounting kit. These we may have tightened too much. You can only hear the blades a bit in this video.

When the blades are stopped it is spinning fast.

The new sail cover arrived - 2012

New cockpit scupper

Debbie picked up a new scupper at Marine Exchange. Although you cannot see it with the teak cockpit grate in why not replace it if it is already out. The old one was beat up.

Dingy floor is now fixed

The dingy floor is now fixed and holding air. It was just the cap. We picked one up at the Dingy Doctor and it fixed the problem. Not so lucky on the tube.
Now to fix the one tube that leaks. It is a where are going to take the time from thing.

Now why could this not do double duty as a paddle board?
Be slow maybe but it might work :).

Removed the padding over the headboard - for modifications

Before.

Moving Metz DSC antenna

We removed the Metz DSC antenna and will be placing it on the side of the bimini.

Now to find a mount to replace this one.

From Metz.

Plastic plumbers tape and Blue Sky Energy Solar Boost 3024i controller - 2012

Debbie picked up some plumbers tape from Home Depot. She first got the galvanized steel type but we decide it was too abrasive for holding the solar controller in place.

Debbie put on the ICOM SSB antenna wire - 2012

Debbie put on the ICOM SSB antenna wire up on the back stay.
She used the “Split Bolt Connector” she purchased at Home Depot.
Debbie also got the antenna cable at Home Depot.
