Today we flushed our inboard HVAC systems. We have a Mermaid
Marine Air 12000 btu and a Mermaid 5200 HVAC systems.
The 12000x is in the salon and the 5200 is in the stateroom. We started out by putting a 16 oz of Muriatic acid in a bucket with 12 letters of water and pump it through the unit (from the through hull where we have a fresh water flush valve) and then it goes through the strainer (we take out the stainless steel strainer) and then through the March pump and then the HVAC and back. This is like "Barnacle Buster" flushing and loads less pricey. Then we flush it out with fresh water.
