Starting battery stops installed to prevent shifting - 2018

This one of the four teak strips of wood I installed on each side of the starting battery box. Each strip has two screws. This will prevent the battery\box from moving in heavy seas along with the tie down strap.

January 2018  -  Tied up in the El Cid Marina Mazatlán, Mexico

There is a mess up as the one has a bit of space. It will not prevent it from functioning because the other end is butted up against the battery box.
Our small Black And Decker drill has given up the ghost as the battery is not holding a charge anymore so the big 3\8 inch drill was used.
Too big for the job really without removing the battery box but I went ahead any way.
This flexible drill extension helped.
If you notice the shelf is split with the crack. You also see the SS screws along the side of the shelf. Disconnect the wires from the battery and take these SS screws out then the shelf\\battery will lift out for great access to the stuffing box or in our case the PSS shaft seal. We designed the shelf this way incase of an emergency. This space was the former home of an engine-driven refer system. We removed that system when we installed our Frigoboat system.
