Beginning of December - 2013 - Nuevo Vallarta Marina in Banderas Bay, Mexico
We squeezed into the spot but the Achilles LSI-310E dingy on the Kato Marine Island Davits was rubbing against the 30' boat to our stern so we had to drop it.
Once at the dock the work begins as usual. The Marina work, thing we have a hard time doing at anchor.
We pulled out all the anchor chain and cleaned it. After three weeks at anchor or so it got growth on it. Then it stinks up the boat when we up anchor. We have a couple ideas to pursue net at anchor, one is to very the length of chain we let out so the bottom scrubs off the growth say every week or so.
Then we flaked out and un-kinked the 125' of 5\8 Sampson anchor line we bought so it was ready to be spliced to the chain. Then we re-marked the anchor chain with rode markings we bought at Downwind Marine and by cutting slits in them and then wire tying them on. They are marked different than I did using the wire tie method.
We marked the chain at 30, 70, 100, 150, and then feet from the end of chain.
The new markings are 30,60,90,120, 150, etc
Now we have both. Lets see how the new ones do as they are made for rode not chain. The plastic chain markings were very expensive unless I missed something. Each package was for one size, like a package of 30' makings, seems not very practical unless they get lost a lot?
We then cleaned out the anchor locker and washed it up nice. Then it was time to do the same to the chain locker. Having rusty chain makes a real mess. Some summer we will get new galvanized 3\8 chain for the boat. This chain is still good just rusty and we can not afford a bottom job which we need and new chain.
Looking to stern. The marina are to stern is in tough condition, no water or power and the docks are really torn up.
Off out bow, the Port Capitan's office.
Our boat "Elegant'sea with the "Shade Tree" up.
Off the starboard bow.
Off our stern to port.
We also did some other chores like washing this and that and whipping a few lines after some adjustments (flopper stopper lines) and re-aligned the furler line and blocks among other things.
We also meet some new cruisers which is always nice.
